Description
Cosmetic vessel (pyxis) from Geometric period. The precious oils, perfumes, cosmetic powders, paints and hair dyes were in use throughout the Minoan, Mycenaean, Geometric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Imperial Roman periods. During the 8th and 7th centuries B.C, Ionians, Corinthians and Rhodians specialized in manifacturing vessels such as: aryballoi, alabastron, pyxis, jars, exaleiptron and various glass vessels. All these containers are connected with women's toilet.National Archaeological Museum Athens.
